Christmas!

Its our Christmas training on Tuesday 18th December, so times are a little different. We start at 7:30 and run through until 9pm for all groups. We will have a simple course and some training games to play that are appropriate for all levels of dogs. For those of you with multiple dogs, there will be time to switch between dogs during the evening.

We will not be training again until January 8th 2013.

We will also have some short surveys for everyone to take away and fill out (or if you prefer email, it will also be available to download on our website). It's nothing strenuous, we just want to know what you want from your training time in the coming year.

Hare'n'Hounds Christmas Show

A mixed showing at Richmond this time!

Emma and Jess were on top form, edging ever closer to that G3 win with a 3rd in G3 Agility, followed by a 4th in the Jumping.

Emma and Diva had some super runs in G3, and Sue and Taz had some equally brilliant moments in G1, but it didn't quite come together to make those clear rounds this time. Leanne and Dylan were working in G6 as usual and also didn't manage to pick up any rosettes.

Best of luck to those competing at Wyre this weekend, and then we're heading into 2013!

UKA Success

At UKA Derby this weekend ...

Success for Julie and Rosie at their second ever show - their first clear round resulting in a Q and a 4th in Beginners Steeplechase!

Susan and Emma also had a good day, no rosettes this time but some great runs nonetheless.

We are now well and truly into the winter season! We are chasing down KC Measuring sessions for those who still require measuring, and will let you know as soon as we can where sessions have been confirmed. Schedules for local shows in January and February will be available shortly, and we will keep posting them to our Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/AllFourPawsATG

A4P Update

We are announcing that as of October 2012, classes at All Four Paws ATG are full. Although we could probably squeeze in a few more dogs here and there, our wonderful but small venue restricts our class sizes. Not only that, but as one of our biggest priorities has been maintaining small class size to allow everyone the time and space they need to train, we feel this is only fair on our current dogs and handlers.

This will not affect anyone who currently trains with us. We can and will accomodate those progressing from North K9's Agility Skills classes in the future.

DivaWe are currently looking at future training options, and as circumstances change we may be able to open our classes again. If you are interested in training with A4P, please get in touch and we can add your name to our Waiting List.

We can also recommend other training classes in the Huddersfield and surrounding areas for agility and other dog sports such as flyball, rally, or obedience.

Debuts at UKA!

We were very proud to see some of our home-grown A4P dogs out at Dig It Dog's UKA show this weekend. They represented themselves and our small club brilliantly!

Susan and Emma continued their show success at their first UKA show, with some fantastic runs in all the classes which culminated in 2 Qs; a 2nd and a 3rd in the two Beginner Steeplechase classes.

This was Julie and Rosie's first ever show, and we know Julie was a bit nervous beforehand! Rosie certainly wasn't, and they had some wonderful, confident runs on the day. We don't think it will be long until the clear rounds and rosettes start piling up!

Emma and Diva are also hovering on the brink of clears, with a few 5f fastest time runs in the Novice Steeplechase classes. Diva is starting to mature and is gaining experience, and Emma was very pleased with how she worked at this show.

Leanne and Dylan showed their experience, Q'ing in 4 classes and bringing home 4x 1sts from Senior Steeplechase I and II, Senior Power and Speed, and Senior Agility.

This was the last A4P show of the summer season, and we are now gearing up for the indoor winter shows. The first will be at Lune Valley at the end of September, good luck to everyone competing there!

Dog Vegas July

DivaEmma and Bailey were on limited runs this weekend, as Bailey is in semi-retirement now after breaking her toe earlier in the year. They still managed to qualify for the Dog Vegas C3-5 Agility Final in August with a 2nd place, congratulations!

Emma was also competing with Diva at her first KC show, they had some very promising runs and we are really looking forward to seeing this pair find their feet.

Leanne and Dylan had some good runs, including an 8th in C6-7 Jumping.Dylan

Unfortunately both Diva and Dylan were spooked by something on Saturday afternoon, effectively ending any rosette chances for the rest of the weekend. Thankfully A4P will be at a UKA show next, so we can look at bringing back some confidence to both dogs -- as well as supporting some of our young A4P dogs and handlers at their first show!

Unexpected UKA Dig It

After the endless rainfall cancelled a local flyball show, several of the All Four Paws handlers headed over to UKA Dig It for an unexpected but successful agility competition.

Leanne and Dylan picked up a 1st and 2nd in the Senior Steeplechase classes, giving them another 2 Qualifying scores.

Katie and Jet made their UKA debut in Novice, and picked up a 4th and a 2nd, their first UKA Qs!

Emma and Diva looked fantastic at their first affiliated show, no Qs but turning heads and looking like a force to be reckoned with in the future!

We're looking forward to seeing a few more of our handlers at the September Dig It UKA show!

A4P and North K9

We have some exciting news for the future at All Four Paws ATG!

Leanne, Emma, and Katie have been working closely with Claire North of North K9 to develop two new classes aimed at developing the basic skills required for agility.

These classes will cover some of the aspects that we currently introduce during our Foundation Agility Skills class, such as recalls, waits, motivation and play, body awareness, and target training. We hope that this will be the perfect introduction to agility-based skills for new dogs and handlers who want to learn something new or are thinking of giving agility a try. We are also confident that anyone who does decide to pursue agility to a competitive level can do so with the best possible foundation in place.

So how will this affect All Four Paws? Our Foundation Agility Skills class will now become an Introduction to Agility class, as the classes offered at North K9 will produce a natural progression to equipment training. We will ask now that all dogs who hope to attend this class have either been referred directly from North K9 or have an equivalent skill level (such as a Good Citizen Dog Award or PetCode).

For our existing handlers, it means we can use our arena time more productively, and can help our new dogs and handlers to progress faster as they start to work toward a competitive standard of agility. It also gives our experienced handlers a chance to take their new dogs and puppies to a class tailored to an agility future from day one!

Our Pre-Competition and Competition level classes will not be affected by this change.

You can find out more about North K9 here: http://www.northk9.co.uk/ or email Claire at info@northk9.co.uk

Wigton Results

Jet
Katie and Jet were back on the agility circuit after a long break at Wigton DTC's show. Sadly no rosettes this time but it won't be long for this pair to get back in to the places.

Katie is currently awaiting her final exam results from Liverpool Veterinary School, and we wish her the best of luck from everyone at All Four Paws.

Leanne and Dylan picked up a 4th in Grade 6 Agility at the same show.

Kim
Leanne also competed with Kim at this show, and despite their good results, has decided that the time is right to retire Kim from agility competitions. Kim still enjoys competing and gets placed regularly, but at 11.5yrs old she is finally beginning to slow down and is going deaf, which makes running the challenging Grade 6-7 courses a little difficult!

Kim has competed in numerous qualifiers and finals, including Crufts, and after starting in Grade 1 in 2006, she retires with 3 agility wins towards Grade 7 and as our most distinguished competitor at All Four Paws ATG. She will still be attending some shows as an extremely vocal supporter of the rest of the All Four Paws competitors.

March Round Up

Some fantastic results this March!

Susan and Emma had their second ever show - and first since Emma's maternity leave! - and brought home a 1st in Beginners Agility, a 2nd in Beginners Snooker, and a 3rd in Beginners Jumping. A great follow up to their wins at Crufts in the breed showing earlier this month, and we're looking forward to the rest of the year!

Leanne and Dylan were back on track at Tailwaggers, picking up a 2nd in Novice+ Jumping and then a 1st in Novice+ TFO Agility.

Hopefully this marks the beginning of Dylan's comeback after his injury as we enter the summer season and see some of our young dogs embarking on competition. Good luck to everyone competing at Easter!

New Year Round Up

Geoff and Charlie came home from the February Tailwaggers with a 1st in Elementary Agility and a 3rd in Elementary Jumping. Huge congratulatons on their first class win! This follows up their previous competition on New Years Day at Tailwaggers where they picked up a 5th in Elementary Gamblers and an 8th in Elementary Agility. Great start to 2012!

Leanne and Dylan also picked up some placings at Tailwaggers in February with a 4th in Novice+ Jumping and a 5th in Novice Plus Speed & Power.
